Lancia Fulvia (1965 - 1976)
In the 1960s Lancia made Citroen look almost sensible. Lancia had a tradition of engineering excellence every bit as exalted as Mercedes Benz (although not as rust-resistant, sadly), but sold small cars at relatively low prices. The result was inevitable financial collapse, but a legacy of great cars. The Fulvia was beautifully made, a delight to drive and a winner of countless rallies. Inside the modestly-priced Fulvia was a very expensive car trying to get out.
