Giving ‘power to the people’ is an overused phrase, but in a very real sense that’s exactly what the RS brand has been doing ever since 1970. When Ford originally set up its Advanced Vehicle Operations and RS dealer network it was ostensibly to feed the growing demand for its quick Escorts, but little did the realise they were about to kick off a love affair that would burn in the hearts of the British Public for nearly 40 years.
