124g/km
The greenest open-top car is Vauxhall’s sporty two-seat Tigra. This stylish model emits a mere 124g/km of CO2, costs £30 to tax, and will do 61.4mpg. It has an electric folding hard-top roof, that lowers quickly to reveal a racy roadster look. The flip side is a cockpit that’s based on the old version of the Corsa and the 1.3 turbodiesel engine is very slow on acceleration. List prices are also rather high, particularly as air con isn’t standard. But the good news is Vauxhall dealers will deal, and there are still those big fuel gains to be had.
