'He's done it again'. So said Sir Stirling Moss of Lord March at the end of another successful Festival of Speed that even saw Hollywood take over a small part of Sussex.
Visitor numbers may have been down - we are in recesson after all - but the enthusiasm of the crowds wasn't and they were treated to a superb array of machinery dating from more than a century ago to the modern day. Audi, Bugatti and MINI were all celebrating landmark anniversaries with plenty of cars on show to mark their achivements while Audi created a stunning sculpture outside Goodwood House and brought along factory drivers old and new from Hannu Mikkola to Allan McNish.
This year there was plenty of interest from the USA, again a stirling effort considering the economic climate with Hollywood actor Peter Fonda riding a recreation of his Captain America Harley and talk show host and petrolhead Jay Leno driving the one-off Jaguar XJ13 while TV celeb Jesse James wowed the crowds with his 800bhp 'trophy Truck'; glamour was supplied by his wife, the actress Sandra Bullock.
To see some of the best cars and action more from the festival, check out the galleries.
