Man attacks lorry with shovel in shocking road rage attack

Updated:

A truck driver rammed a lorry before smashing a window in a shocking road rage attack caught on CCTV.

The violence came after the two vehicles had been involved in a minor collision while merging on to the M62 in Greater Manchester. Both vehicles pulled to the hard shoulder to exchange details, but the truck driver then became aggressive.

In the footage captured by CCTV, the motorway maintenance vehicle's driver can be seen taking a photo of the lorry's passengers. The clip then shows two of the men arguing, when the truck driver lunges for the other man's phone and begins punching him.

The lorry's occupants then lock themselves in the cabin of their vehicle, at which point the aggressive man jumps in his truck and rams their vehicle twice. He then grabs a shovel and smashes the lorry driver's window before driving away.

Logistics and distribution firm Wincanton confirmed two of its drivers were involved, and said one was taken to hospital but had since been discharged.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for any information about the aggressive driver who got away.
