World's first drivable deck chair unveiled in Brighton
> This 'Ultimate Deck Chair" was revealed to hundreds of bemused holidaymakers on Brighton beach. Complete with space for two sun-seekers and their drinks, books and sun cream, this creation gives people the freedom to head off to another part of the beach if it gets too crowded – with no worries about having to pack up.
Other handy features include a stereo system and refrigerated slushy machine – plus an on-board parasol with a GPS tracker which follows the sun around the sky, giving occupants constant shade. There is also a handy sandpit – just in case you end up on a pebbly beach.
Commissioned and built by car hire comparison site Holiday Autos, this deck chair was designed by artist Solomon Rogers to guarantee sun worshippers a seat – or two – on the beach. With deployable wind breaks to keep the breeze at bay and give added privacy – plus retractable towels which should remain dry and sand free – this machine is the ultimate in beach convenience.
Solomon Rogers who designed this deck chair said: "I was commissioned to make the holiday experience better than ever before and we wanted beachgoers to enjoy a day at the seaside without having to worry about overcrowding, sand getting everywhere and forgetting the sun cream.
"The ultimate deck chair takes the traditional design and builds on it to provide holidaymakers with the very best seaside experience possible – whilst hopefully also raising a smile."
Michael Callaghan from Holiday Autos said: "Our job is to inject as much fun, freedom and frivolity into holidays as possible – something The Ultimate Deck Chair most certainly does.
"It seems to have gone down a storm in Brighton, so it looks likely that we will take to the road and head to some of the beautiful sandy beaches around Europe".
