One motorist may want to consider buying a lottery ticket after escaping a crash that saw his car split in half.
The unidentified driver was involved in a heavy collision on the M25 between Clacket Lane services and junction 6 Godstone at around 7pm on Monday.
It is unclear how the accident occurred, but the aftermath was clear to see: a blue Fiat Punto left without its rear half and strewn across the carriageway.
However, despite the catastrophic damage inflicted upon the poor hatchback, the driver managed to escape with what police described as a "minor injury".
First responders from the Surrey constabulary praised the quick thinking of passing motorists, sending out this tweet showing the extensive destruction of the car:
caught in the M25 traffic? Luckily only minor injury. 2× Good Samaritans stopped and gave F AID & shelter, thank you. pic.twitter.com/yuwtAjUEtK- Surrey Roads Police (@SurreyRoadCops) June 30, 2014
A Surrey Police spokesman also later said: "We would like to thank the members of the public who stopped and gave first aid prior to the arrival of emergency services," reported GetSurrey.co.uk.
"This highlights the importance of carrying a high-vis jacket in the car as the member of the public that stopped had them to wear in a dangerous location.
"It would have been even more dangerous for them if they did not have a high-vis jacket."
