Since the dawn of social media, car manufacturers have had a new outlet with which to ramp up the hype machine for their new models. Most recently, Land Rover has released a series of teaser videos, giving the briefest of glimpses of its new SVR model.
Not ones to miss out on the action, Honda has issued a teaser video for its forthcoming hot hatchback, the Civic Type R. Titled 'Disruption', the film is a surreal mishmash of scenes, with the car making an appearance only at the very end.
Instead what you get is Terminator-like bad guys, baying wolves, samurai-sword wielding ninjas and a pair of creepy-looking twins sat on a sofa. Aside from that, the burning speed cameras and Nurburgring outline glimpsed on a character's jacket give a hint as to the new car's performance potential.
A Honda spokesperson said: "The new Type R promises to be the most extreme yet, it's born from racing and it pushes the boundaries. This new campaign encompasses this spirit perfectly, with Disruption the ideal curtain raiser in setting the energy and adrenaline levels very high."
The new Honda Civic Type R is due to reach showrooms next year, and will boast a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine developing at least 280bhp.
