Former EastEnders actress Daniella Westbrook has caused controversy after she 'fumed' on Twitter that her car had been stolen, only to reveal that is was all a big mistake.
Former model and actress Westbrook, 40, took to the social media network, saying: "Just walked out my house my cars been stolen (sic). Fuming."
But after an investigation by The Mirror, it was revealed that she had simply failed to keep up with finance repayments and the car was legally repossessed without her knowledge.
Her young fiancé Tom Richards, 24, then tweeted: "@westbrookdanni car just been stolen, if anyone sees this can u please contact the police," accompanied by an image of the Peugeot 208's rear numberplate.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, she said after the incident: "This is a complete and utter misunderstanding, I really did think that my car had been stolen.
"Embarrassingly, I forgot to set up a direct debit so didn't realise that the payments were not being made.
"After several burglaries and a marriage breakdown, the car was the last thing on my mind.
"Had the hire company wanted the car back, all they had to do was ask and I would had driven it back to them myself. It's a relief to know the car wasn't stolen though."
The former soap star received a number of supportive messages from a number of her 105,000 Twitter followers; with many commenting on the string of bad luck she had faced following a spate of burglaries at her house in Essex.
