Even the most ardent car fan is sometimes guilty of judging a car without given a second thought to the amount of man-hours that have been invested into it. But sometimes it pays to take a look behind the scenes.
A recent trip around the Rolls-Royce factory highlighted the sheer weight of workmanship invested into each car and although not quite in the same league, the all-new BMW X4 is still lavished with some impressive attention to detail.
The video below was shot in BMW's Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, a cutting-edge facility that is about to welcome a £600million investment so it can happily pump out 450,000 units by the end of 2016 – once of those being the upcoming X7.
An all-new X4 joined the X3, X5, X5 M, X6 and X6 M family last month but, unlike the Rolls-Royce, it is lavished attention of the robot variety. Hundreds of expensive machines work on every X4 model, bolting it together, spraying on the paint and fitting various body parts with astonishing precision.
