I was parking at a dealership the other day and, as I climbed out of my car, I was greeted by a salesman shouting from the other end of the forecourt.
"Wanna flog it mate?" he bawled.
Turns out the dealership, a decent-sized independent, literally can't get hold of enough quality used Qashqai's to satisfy demand.
Apparently, if they park a Qashqai in prime position on their roadside site in the morning, it'll be gone by the evening.
And a prime example of Qashqai loveliness like AOL Car's stunning white 360 would, so I'm told, have droves of would-be buyers making a beeline for the dealership and the phones ringing hot.
Clearly, I decided not to sell – our illustrious editor and the Nissan press office may have had something to say about that – but I've got to say, I'm not surprised.
And nor was I surprised when the original Qashqai, won yet another prestigious industry award – this time for used car of the year – last month.
Our 1.5 dCi model is now approaching its first scheduled service and it's performed without so much as a hiccup. From the moment it was delivered, and despite the constant pounding it takes from our team, it has been faultless in every regard.
It's comfortable, well equipped, spacious, practical, efficient and good looking. Throw some cast iron residuals into the mix and it's easy to see why the Qashqai is a favourite with used car dealers.
To be honest, if I were looking for a second-hand family car, I'd struggle to look beyond it.
