Professor Green charged with drink-driving
The 30-year-old musician, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, was arrested last November outside his home in Tyrwhitt Road, Lewisham, by police investigating reports of a man being mugged.
Arriving at the scene in the early hours of the morning, officers discovered a collision had taken place between a Mercedes and a van, and detained Manderson at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving.
There were no reports of any injuries in the crash.
The rapper was bailed to appear at a south-east London police station, where he was later formally charged with the drink-driving offence.
Although additionally arrested for allegedly perverting the course of justice, the Crown Prosecution Service later decided not to pursue that charge.
The Metropolitan Police said: "Stephen Manderson, aged 30, of Tyrwhitt Road, has... been charged with drink-driving following an incident on 3 November," reported The Guardian.
"He will appear on bail at Bromley magistrates' court on 20 March."
Professor Green's biggest hit in the UK so far has been 'I Need You Tonight'. He has been recognised for his music through numerous honours, including MOBO and MTV awards, and has collaborated with major artists including Maverick Sabre and Lily Allen.
He is married to 'Made in Chelsea' participant Millie Mackintosh.
