Volkswagen introduces green hot hatchback

Volkswagen has released details of its new Polo BlueGT – a sporty hatchback with a green conscience.
Buyers are treated to 136bhp, 250Nm of torque, a top speed of 130mph and a 0-60mph time of 7.9 seconds – just one second off the hot Polo GTI's 0-60 time.
The BlueGT is powered by a new 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which features cylinder deactivation. Under light loads, two of the four-cylinders are shut down cutting fuel consumption.
Volkswagen told Autoblog the engine will find its way into other models with the Golf being the next model to receive it.
The BlueGT gets a 15mm lower ride height than standard Polos, 17-inch alloys and GT badges. It also gets front and rear bumpers from the Polo GTI along with its rear spoiler, and side skirts borrowed from the wind-cheating BlueMotion model.
A black front grille and door mirrors finish the look, and a new unique 'Blue Silk' colour has been introduced specifically for the new model.
All BlueGTs get LED daytime running lights, GTI instruments, bespoke front seats, leather steering wheel, DAB radio with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth, cruise control and a electronically locking differential.
