VW Tiguan R-Line
To keep it high on SUV buyers' shopping lists, Volkswagen has given its Tiguan the sporty treatment.

The German firm has added a new model to its UK line-up.

"R-Line" cars are based on the posh Tiguan SE model, and gain bi-xenon headlamps, 18-inch alloys, "R" design bumpers and rear spoiler, an R-Line logo on the front grille and aluminium front door sills with R-Line logo.

Tiguan R-Line cars also come in silver with racy black wheel arch extensions.

Inside R-Line buyers get sports front seats which are two-tone and have R-Line logos on them, a leather multifunction steering wheel and that hallmark of a sporty car – stainless steel pedals.

Engine choices are limited to a 2.0-litre petrol with 208bhp and four-wheel-drive, and a 2.0-litre diesel with either 138bhp or 168bhp – both with four-wheel-drive.

Prices for the sporty 4x4 start at £28,020 and rise to £28,700.

Volkswagen expects a quarter of all Tiguan sales to be the R-Line. Order books are open now with the first deliveries in January 2013.
