Auric Goldfinger's Rolls-Royce
Anxious to get your hands on some James Bond memorabilia but can't afford one of the movie cars?

Don't worry because a certain 007-themed number plate could be your golden opportunity to get your hands on something very special.

The plate AUR 1C will be auctioned by DVLA Personalised Registrations next month. Lot 92, AUR 1C will be sold off during the first morning of the agency's three-day sale being held at Ardencote Manor Hotel in Warwickshire commencing on Wednesday, November 14.

And the reserve for the plate? A measly £700.

Ardent fans of Bond will all know AUR 1C reads Auric – the legendary Bond villain who said the classic line "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die" in the 1964 picture Goldfinger.

In that film, Goldfinger's 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III bore the registration AU1.

Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations' marketing manager, told Autoblog: "AUR 1C has already generated a considerable amount of interest - even though the sale is more than a month away.

"James Bond is much loved by a truly international fan base and this has been reflected over the years by the success we experience whenever we auction a Bond-related personalised registration.

"For those true devotees, our personalised registration AUR 1C has to be up there with the very best of them."

The sale could be special for other reasons as auction goers could be rubbing shoulders with Lord Sugar in the sale room.

Along with AUR 1C, the plate AM57 RAD will be going under the hammer too with the reserve of £900.

Other plates include ATT 1C (reserve of£400), 9 EEK (reserve of £1,700), 90 O (reserve of £5,000), PO57 AGE (reserve of£900), RUS 551A (reserve of £450), and SA11 EEM (reserve of £2,600).
