Honda is ditching its image of selling boring cars and has revealed it WILL be producing a new Civic Type R.
Hot Honda fans will be relieved to know the good times could well be returning to their beloved firm, as Honda will not only be producing a Civic hot hatch but also a new NSX supercar.
The spicy Civic is slated for release in 2015 and will initially be available in Europe. It could well use a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol unit – a development of the engine which will power Honda's World Touring Car next year.
Thankfully the new Type R won't just be a Civic hatch with the fabled badge on its boot-lid. The new car will aim to become the fastest front-wheel-drive vehicle on the fabled Nurburgring, in Germany.
Before then, though, hot Honda fans will be able to get their hands on the new NSX. Set to go on sale in 2014, the new supercar will use Honda's newly developed three-motor hybrid system and all-wheel-drive technology providing highly efficient supercar performance.
Honda also confirmed it is introducing a new compact SUV – likely to be based on the Jazz, rumours suggest – and an all-new fuel cell electric model for Europe, Japan and the US for 2015.
