Peugeot reveals posh 208
If you're after a posh Peugeot, you're in luck – the French firm has announced it's giving its 208 hatchback a shove upmarket with a special edition.
Called the 208 XY the city runabout is aimed at premium purchasers with a range of distinctive colours, textures and special features.
There's also 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with "purple-edged" wheel caps, a panoramic glass roof and dual zone automatic air conditioning as standard.
Inside the XY gets seats trimmed in cloth and Alcantara, purple-stitched detailing, aluminium pedals, and a leather steering wheel.
The luxurious model will be available for personalisation too. Customers will be able to choose leather seats in black or bronze, and have them heated too.
Engine choice will be limited to 1.6-litre petrol and diesel variants with CO2 emissions ranging from road tax-free 98g/km - the 1.6-litre diesel 92 FAP version – to 135g/km for the sprightly 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol version.
A Peugeot spokesperson revealed to Autoblog that prices will be "around £500 less than the 208 Feline model" and the XY "will only be available with three doors".
When it arrives in May, expect the XY to start around £15,500.
It's been a busy week for Peugeot, as news of the XY comes hot on the heels of the GTi version announced earlier this week.
