As well as the collection of royal cars and the sale of historic Lotus cars we have previously mentioned, Goodwood has announced further details of this year's Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival

At the Festival of Speed, there will be at least seven F1 drivers taking part, including Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Lord March of Goodwood says that Vettel's appearance ties in perfectly with this year's theme: "Young Guns - Born to Win". Other F1 drivers are due to be confirmed shortly.

The featured marque this year will be Lotus, with a Lotus-themed central installation and over 50 historic models taking part. With Lotus planning an all-new range from 2014, this is a good time to remind people of all the great cars of the past. In the 1960s and 1970s, no one was more innovative in Formula One than Lotus.

At the Goodwood Revival there will also be a celebration of 50 years of the Ferrari GTO (read how each one is now worth £20 million), with over half the cars ever produced taking part. Another iconic sports car celebrating its half-century is the AC Cobra, and there will be an all-Cobra race to mark the anniversary.

There will also be outings on the hillclimb for the Silver Arrows Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union competition cars, 75 years after their memorable race in the UK at Donington. It is interesting how happy Audi, BMW and Mercedes are now to show their 1930s heritage – until 10 years ago, that subject was strictly off-limits.
