Cristiano Ronaldo's Lamborghini Aventador gets towed
Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't have a lot of luck when it comes to his cars. A couple of years ago he famously crashed his Ferrari 599 while going through a tunnel in Manchester.
And now he's had to suffer the dreadful, awful, life-changing shame and disgrace of having to get a taxi to a celebrity party after his Lamborghini Aventador broke down. And they say nurses have it tough.
According to the Daily Mail, the Lambo had to be towed away from its resting place on a Madrid street, leaving Ronaldo to make his way to Real Madrid teammate Pepe's birthday party in the same manner as a regular person would.
To add further insult to this ignominious catastrophe, it happened at about the same time as Ronaldo's footballing nemesis, Messi, was putting five past Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, breaking the record for the most goals scored in a game by a single player in the competition.
Ronaldo has reportedly only had the Aventador for a month or so, and he's evidently had it customised with a matte black paintjob, undoubtedly at great expense.
The Aventador costs £243,000 in the UK and has a 6.5-litre V12 engine pumping out 700bhp and good for a 0-62mph time of 2.9 seconds.
But after this little incident we're guessing Ronaldo has already made his handlers call Ferrari and order its new Aventador rival, the F12 Berlinetta, just unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
Fingers crossed he'll get involved in some other terribly exciting escapade in that, too. Stop on double red lines for a couple of minutes, perhaps.
