Evo near missThankfully, so far this winter we've not seen much of the white stuff and ice in the UK.

However, this is not the same for the rest of the world, as before Christmas I reported on the amazing video of the lucky Russian driver who managed to avoid a near fatal crash.

Well, less than a month on and I've found this miraculous footage of a modded Mitsubishi Evo IX driver who manages to save his car and possibly his life.

I do wonder why this American Evo driver had a video camera mounted on his dashboard? With the first major snowfall in Mid-Atlantic America this year, it was only going to be a matter of time until he caught something interesting.

It is obvious from the start that conditions on the road are bad. A Ford Flex on the right is looking like it is overtaking, then chaos ensues as in the corner of the shot you can see an MPV facing the wrong way plus cars all over the place at a standstill.

As the driver of the Flex slams on his anchors and smashes into what looks like a stopped Audi A6 Avant, our man manages to pull to the side of the road and steer a scary path through the carnage.

How he manages to miss the out of control 18-wheel truck on his left I don't know, but he gets away with just minor damage to the Evo and more importantly his life.

This video perfectly illustrates the dangers of driving in this conditions and perhaps what you shouldn't do when an accident like this happens.
