Making its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show was the convertible version of the Ferrari 458 Spider.

It features a retractable hard-top roof, which might not sound amazing as the prancing horse manufacturer has already produced a hard-top convertible in the form of the California.

However, this will be the first time a folding hard top roof has been fitted to a mid-engined two-seater.

Being made from aluminium, it's light too and Ferrari claim that the roof weighs 25kg less than a soft-top's would.

Powered by the same 562bhp, 4.5-litre V8, the Spider has its own bespoke throttle pedal mapping, engine note and damping.

Despite being heavier than the coupe, the Spider is still capable of hitting 62mph in under 3.4 seconds and the top speed is expected to be around 200mph.
