Despite all the exotica available from Italy, or indeed Germany, these days, it seems a British supercar fan still prefers an Aston.
The Aston Martin DB9 has emerged as the top pick in a survey to find the nation's favourite supercar, and it has beaten some impressive opposition too – it pushed the Audi R8 and the Bugatti Veyron into second and third spots respectively.
The survey, run by Manheim Auctions, saw the Aston take 21 percent of the vote, while the Audi managed 15 percent and the Veyron 14 percent.
"The Aston Martin DB9 has to be one of the most well-known, best-loved supercars ever made. Synonymous with speed, style and glamour and already slipping into the 'iconic' status, it's little wonder it's been voted favourite in our supercar poll," explained Craig Mailey, Marketing Director, Manheim Auctions.
The full top ten, which was voted for from a shortlist of 18, was as follows:
1. Aston Martin DB9
2. Audi R8
3. Bugatti Veyron
4. Lamborghini Gallardo
5. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
6. Porsche 911 GT3 RS
7. Ford Mustang (1960-69)
8. Ferrari Testarossa
9. Dodge Viper
10. Ford GT
