Kimi Raikkonen isn't in Kansas anymore, Toto – well actually, he might be soon. The yellow brick road has apparently led the 32-year-old Finn to fit in a spot of NASCAR truck racing around his World Rally Championship outings this year.
News of Raikkonen's interest in the series emerged last week, which many people assumed was a misguided attempt at an April Fools' joke, but it turned out the 2008 F1 world champion is serious about the move.
He is reportedly lining up five race drives for the year, to fit in around his WRC schedule. He is set to contend 10 rounds of the rally championship in 2011, with his next drive at the Jordan rally this month.
Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya made the switch to NASCAR in 2007 after an underwhelming lack of success with the Williams and McLaren teams. He has achieved mixed success in the US stock car racing series with three wins in five years.
