Perhaps mindful that the last set of teaser pictures it released showed us little of the actual car, BMW has handed out another group that at least takes the cloth off this time.

Now we get to see the actual car, but the swirly pattern so beloved by car makers for its definition distorting attributes does mean we can't see exactly what it is to look like yet.
There is little more to see in terms of technical details – the same alloys, basic shape and wider front bumper are all apparent – but the most telling picture is the one where BMW places the new car against a first generation M3. It has long been suggested this exciting 1 Series will be the closest to the original BMW super saloon, but putting the two side by side shows they are much the same size.



Hopes remain high, and we remain childishly excited about this baby Beemer that promises to offer in the region of 340bhp from its 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine.
